If the words, “Where can I find a good practitioner?” have ever crossed your lips or flown across your keyboard, get ready for DaoCloud Social Wellness Network! This new online platform takes crowdsourcing to a new level, what the founders are calling “Word of Mouth 2.0.” Think: an awesome directory of health resources meets Facebook.
We love our resource directory here at Mindful Healthy Life, and there are also local directories of practitioners, like in the quarterly Pathways magazine and the monthly publication, Natural Awakenings, whose Natural Living Directory is out now in its January issue.
But DaoCloud is something altogether different. It’s truly about connecting and actively sharing in the same way people already share, but amplified by technology.
DaoCloud is partnering up with Natural Awakenings and with Mindful Healthy Life, among other organizations and media outlets, to help connect thousands of practitioners and the clients and patients who seek their expertise.
The network’s founders overcame their own chronic illness and wanted to help others find their paths to wellness. The network’s goal: Put health and wellness resources within everyone’s reach.
DaoCloud is a free resource for the public and a marketing tool for professionals. The site is currently in beta-testing but already has a network of over 150 practitioners in the DC Metro area available for anyone to browse .
People looking for a practitioner or a service provider can browse DaoCloud’s extensive network of professionals for someone who might be a good fit. If the screen doesn’t already recognize your location, put in your zip code, and see all the providers who pop up!
Practitioner profiles show where the professionals work, what they specialize in, and what modalities they utilize. You’ll see where they trained and get a price range of what services might cost. It’s a great way to “meet” someone before you inquire about becoming a patient.
Next, if you want to become an involved participant in the network and be able to make recommendations of practitioners and to have your own Wellness Enthusiast profile, you can request an invitation to join DaoCloud. It’s free, but it’s currently invite-only while the site is being beta-tested.
Once you get submit your name and email, you’ll get on a waiting list to be informed as soon as the new version of the app comes out. Once that happens, you’ll be able to get registered as a Wellness Enthusiast to a profile with your interests and favorites: yoga studios, articles, websites and the like. Then other folks can connect to you, and professionals can, too. Your social wellness network will be on its way!
