Saturday, October 3 – Revolution: Food Movie The premiere of the new documentary Revolution: Food is happening as part of the Take Back Your Health conference. Renaissance Arlington Capitol View Hotel, 2800 South Potomac Avenue, Arlington, VA 22202. Film tickets (for those not attending the conference) are $15, which includes a reception at 4:30 before the 6:00 screening and a discussion panel following the film.
Saturday, October 3 – Fall Farm Festival at Broadlands – Food, rides and games. 10 am to 12 pm. Nature center lawn, 21907 Claiborne Pkwy, Broadlands, VA. $15 per household with pre-registration (all activities and foods included). $20 per household on day of event.
Saturday & Sunday, October 3-4 – Maryland & DC Tour of Solar and Green Homes – 11 am to 5 pm, One ticket per car, $5. The self-guided tour of 60 solar and green homes in MD, helps educate the public on the positive aspects of solar energy and sustainable design. Booklets available for download or from area vendors, including MOM’s Organic Market locations.

Thursday, October 15 – From Menstruation to Menopause presentation – Holistic Moms Arlington/Alexandria Chapter, 7 pm to 9 pm, UUCA, 4444 Arlington Blvd Arlington, VA 22204. Kelly Valceanu, CNM, IBCLC, of Midwifery Care Associates in Rockville, MD will talk about women’s monthly cycles and what happens as they near their end. The presentation will focus on what to expect from peri-menopause and menopause and how to approach these transitions in a holistic way. The 14th annual “Family Stream Day” will be held at Claude Moore Park in Sterling. Saturday, October 24 – Birding the Blue Ridge Center – Free Bird Walk, 8 am (meet at BRCES Education Center), 11661 Harpers Ferry Rd. Purcellville, VA 20132. Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) leads a free bird walk at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship (BRCES), a 900-acre preserve that includes includes meadows in the valley and heavily forested slopes on the Blue Ridge.

Thursday, November 19 – Building a Healthy Relationship with Money Presentation – Holistic Moms Arlington/Alexandria Chapter, 7 pm to 9 pm, UUCA, 4444 Arlington Blvd Arlington, VA 22204. Cindy Morgan-Jaffe, money coach and parent of five children, will talk about her own journey with money and how the stories and beliefs we carry influence our relationships with family, work and community. Cindy will also share some practical advice on how to talk with kids about money and how to foster generosity even on a limited budget.
